Details and screenshots of what appears to be Valve’s next game project, a multiplayer hero shooter titled “Deadlock,” have seemingly leaked online from playtesters. The leaked information was initially shared on social media and has been corroborated by prominent Valve dataminer @GabeFollower and journalist Tyler McVicker, who closely follows the company.

@GabeFollower posted several screenshots on their social media account that are claimed to be from the unannounced “Deadlock” game. The images depict characters resembling heroes or classes fighting in a city environment reminiscent of the City 17 setting from Half-Life 2. One of the screenshots showcases details for a hero named “Grey Talon,” including their weapon loadout and ability icons with descriptions.

According to @GabeFollower’s prior posts, “Deadlock” is described as a “fast-paced interesting ADHD gameplay” experience that combines elements from games like Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Valorant, Smite, and Orcs Must Die. This suggests a frenetic multiplayer hero shooter with characters possessing unique abilities and playstyles.

Valve had not previously revealed or hinted at the existence of “Deadlock,” making this leak a surprising revelation about their latest game development efforts. The company is best known currently for its Steam gaming platform and hardware like the Steam Deck, but they continue making games as well, such as last year’s release of Counter-Strike 2.

In 2017, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell stated the company was working on three “full” virtual reality game projects, one of which became the acclaimed 2020 title Half-Life: Alyx. “Deadlock” does not appear to be a VR game, indicating Valve may have multiple unannounced games in the works beyond those three originally teased VR titles.
